The original concept for this work was a modern take on Santa “checking his list and checking it twice” using a smartphone instead of a scroll of paper, but shifted slightly to show Santa checking and enjoying reading comments from happy children after a long, demanding flight around the world.

The painting was originally started in Adobe Photoshop CS3, but not finished in time for the holiday.  It was revisited a year later and completed in Adobe Photoshop CS6, including the final touch of adding the comments in the background.
